Akihabara Zone: A Deactivated Amazon Seller Account Reinstated in 28 Days
Amazon permanently deactivated the Akihabara Zone selling account on September 23, 2026, over a restricted-products flag. EHP built and submitted the appeal. On October 21, 2026, Amazon wrote that the submission had been reviewed and accepted, and the account was reinstated.

Timeline
- September 23, 2026: Amazon deactivates the account and removes its listings.
- October 16, 2026: Amazon confirms it is reviewing the information we submitted.
- October 21, 2026: Amazon says the account is still under review, then the same day accepts the submission.
Outcomes
- Account reinstated. Amazon accepted the appeal 28 days after the deactivation notice. The account is no longer suspended.
- Policy violations reduced. A number of open policy violations were resolved as part of the appeal work.
- Honest status. Account Health still reads At Risk, and Amazon listed five earlier violation dates for the seller to keep working on.
The problem: a permanent deactivation
Akihabara Zone sells Japanese goods on Amazon.com. On September 23, 2026, Amazon sent the notice no seller wants to read: the selling account had been permanently deactivated, its listings were removed, and funds would be held while the issue was addressed.
Amazon's reason was restricted products. As an example, it named a listing titled "Muscle Trainer" and said the product had been identified as a non-implanted electrical continence medical device. Under Amazon's policy, professional-use medical devices can only be sold to customers with Amazon Business accounts.

September 23, 2026: Amazon's deactivation notice. The ASIN and the contact name are blurred; account details are cropped out.
Restricted-products deactivations are among the hardest to reverse. Amazon expects the seller to show exactly why the listing broke policy, what has been removed or changed, and what will stop it happening again. A generic appeal usually gets a generic rejection.
Our approach
We treated the appeal as a compliance case, not a request for a second chance. The work covered three areas:
- 1. Find the real cause. We reviewed the flagged listing against Amazon's restricted products and medical device rules, and checked the account for other open policy violations.
- 2. Fix the account, not just the listing. We resolved a number of the open policy violations on the account as part of the appeal, so Amazon's reviewers saw a cleaner account.
- 3. Write a specific plan of action. The appeal named the root cause, the corrective actions already taken, and the preventive steps going forward.
We keep the appeal itself private. A plan of action that works for one seller should not be copied by others, so it is shared only inside the EHP team.
Amazon's review
Amazon took longer than a quick decision. On October 16, 2026, Seller Performance wrote that it was reviewing the information we submitted.

October 16, 2026: Amazon confirms it is reviewing the appeal.
On October 21, 2026, a second notice said the account was still under review.

October 21, 2026: the review is still in progress. The contact name is blurred.
The result: appeal accepted
Later on October 21, 2026, Amazon wrote: "Thank you for your recent submission. It has been reviewed and accepted." The account was reinstated, 28 days after the deactivation notice.

October 21, 2026: Amazon accepts the submission and lists the remaining violation dates.
- Before: account permanently deactivated, listings removed, funds on hold.
- After: appeal accepted, account reinstated and no longer suspended.
- Still open: Amazon asked the seller to keep working on violations dated December 31, 2025 and July 8, August 26, September 9 and September 24, 2026. Account Health still shows At Risk, and that work continues.
What this case study does not claim: it reports the reinstatement, not sales figures. It does not say every policy violation is closed or that Account Health is back to healthy. The appeal text is not published.
