Upcoming Digital Trends in Marketing That You Should Embrace

So far, 2020 has been a rough year for everyone. Especially for businesses and consumers alike with no vaccine yet to be produced, the future looks gloomy for sure. But of course, while there are so many businesses that couldn’t be able to survive the pandemic, many have emerged stronger than ever. In fact, some businesses have even experienced a resurgence in their business. In this case, there is a radical shift in marketing for a lot of companies, and offering goods and services online will be the best course of action if businesses want to survive and stay afloat. As 2020 will be ending in a few months, how will business stay ahead and stand out from the crowd?

Here are some trends that may possibly be the future of  Digital Marketing:

  1. AI or Artificial Intelligence.
Artificial Intelligence

Artificial Intelligence is all around us, with varying degrees, depending on where it is incorporated. Almost some of the biggest companies have teams dedicated to implementing AI or Artificial Intelligence into their marketing. All of this technology is built around the digital avatar that we ourselves have created, on that specific digital platform. Embracing AI can definitely help pinpoint what ads to run specifically for that target user. It’s like tailor-made advertising based on the users browsing history and activity.

An example of an existing AI is Chatbot. It’s your personal concierge that is always on standby, 24/7. Facebook are some of the handful of companies currently using this technology.  By 2025, it is expected, the AI industry will be worth around  190 Billion dollars. So this is good news, for people who are in the tech industry, and definitely a game-changer for advertisers and companies, who are looking for ways to reach new consumers. Companies like Gopher Protocol, Microsoft  Corporation with Cortana, Apple with Siri, Amazon with Alexa are some of the top players when it comes to incorporating AI into their products and/or systems.

  2. Voice Search Capabilities
Voice Search Capabilities

Are you a “Hey Siri”, “Ok Google” or maybe “Hey Alexa”? Chances are, a lot of people have at least used voice search once. Whether setting it for an alarm, controlling lights in the house, or  Voice search capabilities are not found in almost any device,  from smartphones to tablets, to smart speakers to smart TVs. The rise of voice assistants like Cortana from Microsoft, Google’s own voice assistant, Apple’s Siri, and Amazon’s Alexa are just some of the top players in this industry right now. According to some analysts, the penetration rate of smart speakers in the US shows that at least 28% of households owned at least one smart speaker device. With that numbers, it is expected that by 2025, that number is expected to increase to 75%.

3. Videos, Videos, and More Videos
Increasing Streaming Platforms

Covid 19, really put everyone’s lives on pause. Everyone’s on lockdown to avoid the COVID-19 virus. Almost everyone is stuck in their house. But with chaos, comes with opportunity. In a recent report from BBC, Netflix, one of the biggest online streaming platforms in the world, saw a massive increase in subscribers. According to the report, the streaming giant saw at least 16 million people signed up, thanks to the lockdown. Not just Netflix, major players in the online streaming world, saw a resurgence during the pandemic. This scenario has caused a lot of commotion in the media industry. Not just streaming services, Tik Tok, saw a meteoric rise during the pandemic too. According to the Guardian, Tik Tok, a video sharing platform, where users can have their 15 minutes or 15  seconds of fame has surpassed other social media companies, like Facebook and What’s app.

Whether social media, online streaming, or even live, media companies are now taking advantage of these platforms more than ever. Especially now that, there is no vaccine still yet available, the push for more video content will continue to increase in the future.  As more and more consumers want readily available information that is easily digestible, visually engaging, all in a short amount of time.

4. E-Commerce
E-commerce

While some states are now easing restrictions, allowing business to start reopening again, brick and mortar stores especially, other businesses, weren’t so lucky. According to The Washington Post, more than 100,000 businesses across the country have to shut down for good. But despite the pandemic, some businesses saw an increase in revenue especially Amazon. The E-Commerce giant had to hire an additional 100,000 workers in order to keep up with the demand. Online shopping is not a new concept, but the pandemic became an eye-opener for a lot of businesses to have an e-commerce division if they want to stay afloat. A lot of businesses don’t have a digital footprint. And some businesses or companies don’t even have a website. That’s why, for e-commerce providers like Shopify, Amazon, and Square – are beefing up their online system will always be their utmost priority. In order to have a pleasurable online experience. Which is crucial especially during the holidays or special holidays.

5. Interactive Content
Interactive Content

Content that isn’t just limited to websites, but also videos, texts, and many more. There is so much competition out there, and it’s understandable that everyone wants to get ahead. Having interactive content could just be the answer. More and more people now own at least one smartphone. In this case, the United States, China, and India are among countries that have the highest number of smartphone users. Of course, with the COVID-19 pandemic not ending anytime soon, it can be expected that more and more people will be spending more time online.

How can advertisers, businesses, or companies can take advantage of this?

Interactive content marketing is like pre-recorded performance. There is no need for actual interaction with the audience or in this case, online users. This can be done through videos like movie trailers with a working link, clickable icons, online quizzes, and even giveaways. Which are some of the examples of interactive content. In fact, Buzzfeed, is notorious for this kind of marketing, with one quiz that can fetch for millions of views. Implementing marketing strategies like these can certainly help your business or company gain online traction, develop brand loyalty, and enhance user perception. It’s all about customer experience. The longer the customer or user interacts with your social media or website, the more chance your product or service will be purchased.

Conclusion

Running a business is tough, even tougher to run one, especially during these dire times because of COVID – 19. The landscape of marketing is constantly changing, now more so online, where everything is fast-paced and consumer demands always changing. You win some, you lose some. That’s why businesses should always be flexible and adapt to the changing times.
