Let’s be real—when you buy something on Amazon, do you read the huge blocks of text first? Probably not. You look at the pictures. If the photos look sketchy or blurry, you’re not going to buy it. You just scroll to the next one.
If you want people to actually buy your stuff, your photos need to be on point. It’s not just about “looking nice”—it’s about proving your product isn’t trash. Here’s how to do it without making it complicated.
1. The Main Pic Has to Be Clean
Your first photo is the most important one because it’s what people see in the search results. If it’s messy, nobody clicks.
- Keep it white: Amazon actually has a rule about this. The background needs to be plain white.
- No distractions: Don’t put random stuff in the frame. Just show the product.
- Make it sharp: If it looks like it was taken with a potato, you’re going to lose sales. High quality = trust.

2. Show It In Real Life (Lifestyle Photos)
A plain white background is good for the first pic, but it’s kind of boring for the rest. You need to show your product being used. If you’re selling a coffee mug, show someone drinking coffee in a cozy kitchen. If it’s a gym bag, show it in a locker room. This helps people imagine owning it. It’s way easier to buy something when you can see how it fits into your actual life.

3. Zoom is King (High Resolution)
You know when you try to zoom in on a pic, and it gets all pixelated and gross? That’s the worst. Amazon lets customers zoom in to see details, so upload big, clear images (at least 1000×1000 pixels). If you’re selling something with texture—like clothes or leather—this is super important. People want to see exactly what they’re getting, so they don’t get scammed.
4. Show Off the Cool Stuff (Features)
Use your extra photo slots to brag a little. Don’t just post 5 photos of the front of the box.
- Close-ups: Zoom in on the buttons, the stitching, or whatever makes it special.
- Angles: Show the back, the side, and the inside.
- Infographics: You can even add text to an image to explain features, like “Waterproof” or “10-Hour Battery Life.” It’s a cheat sheet for people who hate reading descriptions.

5. Follow the Rules
Amazon is pretty strict. If you break their image rules (like adding logos or text to your main image), they might hide your listing. That means zero sales. Just stick to the guidelines so you don’t get in trouble.
6. Don’t Forget Mobile
Most people shop on their phones these days. Before you finish, check how your pics look on a small screen. If the text on your infographic is too tiny to read on a phone, fix it. If the image looks weirdly cropped, change it. If it doesn’t look good on mobile, you’re losing half your customers.

The Bottom Line
Your photos are basically your salesperson. They do all the talking for you. If they are clear, professional, and show the product in action, people are way more likely to hit that “Add to Cart” button. So don’t be lazy with the camera!
