Creative Ways to Manage Stress

Every day, we are bombarded with different stressors. It may be from work, family, academic life, or our careers. Even the weather can also be a great source of stress. The workload at work, financial woes, and even small things like failure to arrive on time.
Stress can also manifest itself physically, and it may cause some physical changes. This can be through loss of appetite, physical distress and even having trouble sleeping.
In terms, of our emotions, stress can cause strong emotions and can often time lead to an emotional outburst, further increase in stress and anxiety. It can even make us feel lonely and isolated. All of these are normal, But reoccurring or repeated stressor exposure can be a problem. That’s why here are some healthy ways to manage stress or cope.
  1. Take a look at your health.

– Especially your diet, Diet plays an important role in helping reduce the negative effects on the body. Having a well-balanced diet serves as a great foundation in helping reduce inflammation & oxidative stress in your body. An example, Stress can manifest through high blood pressure. If supplemented with a healthy diet, like those rich in fatty acids, antioxidants, and fiber. And other essential nutrients (e.g, anthocyanin, ascorbic acid, etc.)  These can greatly reduce the chance of developing heart or chronic diseases like high blood pressure.

  1. Try to avoid smoking and drinking

– These two are one of the common ways, people turn to when they are stressed. The problem with such a coping mechanism. It may lead to more serious problems later. Some of which is an increased heart & lung disease, and other lung-related problems. Even chronic liver-related diseases can be a potential problem for prolonged alcohol consumption.

  1. Do some exercise

– or at least something to help you move. – Exercise can increase blood flow to the different parts of the body and helps release endorphins which can help improve mood. Thus helping in reducing stress in the process.

  1. Develop some Self

– Awareness of your mind and body. So if stress is starting to build up. Be mindful enough to take a break.

  1. Good night’s sleep

– Sleep is not just for to just hitting the sheets and calling it a day. Sleep plays a crucial row in helping the body repair itself. Not just for repair, sleep is also important in consolidating memories, removing toxins, and many more. Sleep also helps in relieving stress, decreasing anxiety, and reducing the release of cortisol. Which are released during stressful situations

  1. Have an outlet

– For some, having a hobby or an outlet to do something that is unrelated to work, can help take your mind off. It may be painting, watching movies, or reading a good book.

  1. Take it easy

– And Slow down. Modern life has made us lose track of ourselves. Sometimes, it’s ideal to take it slow and take a break. Allow yourself to recharge. Maybe go for a walk, go somewhere relaxing, spend time with friends or loved ones.

  1. Talk to someone

– It’s easy. Talking to someone helps reduce the burden on your mind & body.
